2009 RULES

THE “SUPER HAPPY FUN” CFL “WIN-LOSS” REGULAR SEASON FOOTBALL POOL

Goal of the pool is to gain the most points during the regular season by picking winners of each game in the season, and attached to these projected wins, are points, which are determined by the number of games in each week.

Entry fee is $15.00 per person for the entire season. If you want to have more than one entry, it will be an additional $15.00. There will be 3 winners, 1st place will receive 60%, 2nd place will receive 30% and 3rd place will receive 10%. We have tiebreakers set in place to ensure a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. All entrants must hand in their money by Friday July 22, 2009. IF PAYMENT IS NOT MADE BY July 22, 2009, YOU WILL LOSE 4 POINTS PER WEEK UNTIL PAYMENT IS MADE. Payments can be mailed to Box 2463, Altona, MB, R0G 0B0 or given to any reliable person I know for delivery. Payments can also be made through PayPal in the amount of $15.50 to: hiebzky@mts.net

Picks must be e-mailed by the day of the first game each week to hiebzky@mts.net before gametime of the first game. If the picks are not sent in by this specified time, you will automatically forfeit 4 points. If you miss the start of the 2nd game as well, 3 more points will be deducted, 2 for the third and 1 for the last game of the week.

Following is a model of how points are scored in any given week:
MARK’S PROJECTED PICKS

CAL vs. B.C. =CAL TO WIN (2)
SASK vs. EDM =EDM TO WIN (3)
WPG vs. TOR =WPG TO WIN (4)
HAM vs. MTL =HAM TO WIN (1)

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

CAL vs. B.C. CAL WON 2
SASK vs. EDM SASK WON 0
WPG vs. TOR WPG WON 4
HAM vs. MTL MTL WON 0

TOTAL = 6 POINTS

As you can see above, each player must pick winners each week

As well, you see a designated number behind each projected win. There are either 3 or 4 games each week, so therefore, there are the numbers 1 - 3 or 4. You can only use each number - 1,2,3,4 once.

#1 is the lowest, and obviously #4 is the highest, the goal is to try and gain the most points, so I attached a 4 to the WPG vs. TOR because I thought it would be a blowout win for the BOMBERS, as well I thought that the HAM vs. MTL was going to be very close, and wasn’t sure who would win, so I attached a 1. I ended up with 6 points for the week.

Week Eight and Week Nine of this season only have two games scheduled. One game will be worth 4 points and the second game worth 2 points for a total of 6 points for the week. A perfect week during this week will only be worth 2 bonus points (its only two games people!)

SPECIAL POINT-EARNING WEEKS

There will be four different ways to earn extra points this season. Poolies have the option of using up to 3 4-point weeks. These are weeks that the poolie designates all games as being worth 4 points apiece. There is no penalty for incorrect picks, only 4 points for each correct pick (1 correct = 4 pts, 2 = 8 points, 3 = 12 points, 4 = 16 + bonus)

The second way to earn extra points is with the 5-point suicide week. Poolies have only one 5-point suicide week available for the entire season. If a poolie designates his/her week as a 5-point suicide week each correct pick will be worth 5 points while each incorrect pick will deduct 5 points. For example, if there were 4 games scheduled and the poolie picked 3 correct and 1 incorrect they would gain 10 points (15 - 5 = 10 pts.) Four incorrect would be worth -20 and 4 correct would be worth 20 plus bonus.

The third way to earn extra points is with a perfect week. In the past the perfect week has only gained poolies a bonus of one extra point. This season a perfect week will be equal to the highest point totaled of the week. For example, if it’s a 4 game week and a poolie picks all games correct they will get a bonus of 4 points. If a poolie uses a 4 point week and picks perfectly they will also gain a bonus of 4 points. If a poolie picks a perfect "suicide" week they would earn a bonus of 5 points.

The fourth way is the newly-instituted mandatory "suicide" week. With a season of 19 weeks ahead of us Week Ten is both the midway point AND the Labour day classic matchups. Perfect timing for a mandatory 5-point suicide week! This week DOES NOT count as your optional 5-point suicide week. Everyone's picks will automatically be entered as 5-point picks with the possibility of some big point swings throughout the pool.

We will keep a running tab of all the points for each person and post the weekly results on the Blog at:
